Green Graves

Our mission is to provide a respectful and serene environment for the graves of loved ones. We connect people who want to make a difference in their community with relatives who need help with maintaining and cleaning graves. This collaboration ensures that each resting place receives the care and attention it deserves, and helps keep the memories of our loved ones alive.

Stichting Groene Graven

At the Groene Graven Foundation, everything revolves around care and respect for the resting places of our loved ones. Our mission is simple but powerful: we bring together volunteers and relatives to ensure that every resting place is maintained with love and attention. Whether it concerns gravestone cleaning or gravestone maintenance, our volunteers are ready to help. Through this collaboration we create a sense of community and connection, while contributing to a serene and respectful environment.

Welcome to the Groene Graven Foundation

You can count on our volunteers for consistent and careful maintenance visits. We ensure that every grave is treated with respect and care. You will also receive a photo of the grave after every maintenance service, if you wish.

Reliability

We take care of the grave off your shoulders, so you can concentrate on remembering your loved one without extra worries or lugging around cleaning supplies.

Ease

Our volunteers treat each grave with the same care and respect as if it were their own family member.

They often have buried a loved one themselves, in the same cemetery as you.

Personal attention

For volunteers, working outdoors is not only an opportunity to do something good, but also to stay physically active and enjoy nature, often in the vicinity of their own, also buried loved one. Moreover, with the cost contributions to be received, a tax-free additional income of up to €2,100 per year can be generated!

Why Choose the Groene Graven Foundation?

For relatives

The loss of a loved one is hard enough without the worry of maintaining their grave. The volunteers of our foundation ensure that your loved one's grave always looks neat and tidy. Our volunteers regularly visit the graves, remove weeds, clean the monuments and annually apply a protective Nano coating. For just ten euros per month, you can rest assured that your loved one's grave is in good hands.

  • Ten times a year we remove dead plants, flowers, pine needles, leaves and weeds to give the grave a neat appearance.

  • The grave is watered ten times a year to maintain the vibrancy of the plantings and an atmosphere of peace and beauty

  • Six times a year the grass on the grave itself is carefully cut, maintaining a neat and tidy appearance, thanks to the dedication of the volunteers.

  • Twice a year, plants that overhang too far beyond the grave are carefully pruned.

  • Twice a year, in April and October, special attention is paid, if necessary, to cleaning green deposits on memorials and on the chippings or pebbles on the grave.

  • Every year, in May, the grave is impregnated against moisture and dirt with a nature-friendly Nano coating, through the already included €20 contribution from the expense reimbursement, to guarantee the durability and beauty of the grave.

  • The lettering and joints are updated once every five years, only if necessary, with an additional financial support of €120.

  • We also offer advice, if necessary, to the owner and/or cemetery regarding any subsidence, or replanting, to ensure that the grave always remains a dignified resting place.

  • After each maintenance, we will send you a photo of the grave.

For Volunteers

Are you someone who likes to provide a serene and respectful environment? Do you feel the urge to do something valuable for your local community? Then this is your moment to make a difference!

The Groene Graven Foundation is looking for volunteers who want to help maintain graves for relatives who are unable to do so themselves. These volunteers are often already present at the cemetery, so why not maintain a few extra graves? With a little effort you can mean a lot to others and keep the memories of their loved ones alive. And let's be honest, working outside in a quiet and beautiful park is also good for your health.

At the Groene Graven Foundation, as a volunteer you have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to people who are elderly, have limited mobility or live far from the cemetery.

In addition, we offer a tax-free allowance of €100 per year as a token of appreciation for your efforts (maximum 20 graves) if you maintain an adopted grave monthly from March to December.

Let's make the world a little more beautiful together, one grave at a time. Contact us today to become a volunteer at the Groene Graven Foundation and let's make a difference together!
